Description:
-
To prepare students for an increasingly interdependent world, this multidisciplinary core course cultivates an active conversation about the interconnected global context of our lives. The class examines shared and divergent histories, politics, aesthetics, communication practices, cultures, and economies, as well as human impacts on the environment by paying close attention to contradictions among ethnic and religious identities, strong national affiliations, and the fluidity of nation-state borders. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Placement test, or English 100 with a C or better, or Consent of Department Chairperson. 150 minutes. 3 credit hours.
