The concepts of holism, nursing practice, multicultural society and communication are studied for purposes of assisting persons to meet their basic needs. The role of the practical nurse in the use of the nursing process is studied and practiced in classroom, laboratory and long term care settings specifically in relation to protection against infection and providing for safety, mobility, comfort, hygiene, elimination and nutrition needs. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Nursing 157. 100 minutes per week. 2 credit hours.
