CO-REQUISITE: MAT-121; PREREQUISITE: CHE-101 or one year of high school chemistry, and MAT-121; or istructor permission. Requires college-level reading. Focuses on basic chemistry and measurement, matter, chemical formulas, reactions and equations, stoichiometry, and thermochemistry. Covers the development of atomic theory culminating in the use of quantum numbers to determine electron configurations of atoms, and the relationship of electron configuration to chemical bond theory and molecular orbital theory. Includes gases, liquids, and solids. Problem solving skills are emphasized. Incorporates laboratory experiments. Note: Requires college-level math and college-level reading. Prev.
