PREREQUISITE: Requires college-level reading. Prepares the student without previous first aid training to handle the emergency care problems seen at alpine and nordic ski areas. The knowledge and skills are oriented toward the wilderness setting with special emphasis on ski and snowboard injuries, altitude and cold weather illnesses, wilderness extrications, and the special equipment ski patrollers need for emergency care and transportation in the outdoor environment.
