This first medical-surgical course introduces care of the older adult. The impact of the rapidly growing segment of the population over 65 on nursing and health care is discussed. The biopsychosocial changes in the elderly are reviewed with focus on normal vs. abnormal. The student is introduced to the experience of growing older through various strategies, including repeated contact with an older adult. Clock Hours: 15 (LEC)
