The course examines major theories of organizations, focusing on their structures and the behaviour of individuals and groups who affect and are affected by organizational relationships and activities. An understanding of these concepts contains implications for managerial effectiveness. Selected aspects of organizational psychology and administrative behavior are reviewed relative to motivational approaches and incentives, group dynamics, leadership, and control. Approach to organizational design, change, and development are emphasized. Other topics covered in the course include problem-solving, goal development, group structure, attitude formation, field theory, and learning models. Three lectures. Three hours credit.
