Nurse Aide I is a course teaching basic principles, procedures and responsibilities for patient care and their association with common illnesses, rehabilitation processes and the principles of long-term care. The course is designed to teach skills in patient care that will qualify the student to assist the LPN or the RN in direct patient care. Any individual who is employable by a long-term care facility and who is to be involved in direct resident care shall be eligible to enroll in the course, which consists of 80 classroom hours and 100 hours of on-the-job training. Onthe- job training and final clinical examinations are not included in AH 101. College certification will be awarded after successful completion of classroom and on-the-job training. State certification as a CNA will be awarded upon documented successful completion of classroom work, on-the-job training and final test with clinical practicum by State approved examiner. (DD)
