A continuation in the study of disease processes with an emphasis on health and its promotion. Nursing management of the adult, utilizing critical thinking and the Nursing Process is found throughout the course. Dietary and pharmacologic management are integrated throughout the course. Patient teaching, discharge planning and follow-up care of the adult and ageing population within a multicultural community are addressed. Time is spent in review, practice and validation of skill competency in the skill laboratory. Clinical experiences are spent in acute, outpatient and community based settings. Learning experiences are centered on meeting the total needs of the patient and family. Emphasis on self-reliance, productivity and lifelong commitment to learning is stressed. The student may have experiences in specialty settings. (Lab fee, clinical fee) (F)
