This course will cover advanced topics of database management systems (DBMS) topics not covered in BT170-Database Concepts. These topics include programmatic Structured Query Language (SQL), the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) standard, database administration/ management issues, database monitoring and tuning, object DBMSs and object-relational DBMSs, web technology and DBMSs, semi-structured data and XML and data warehousing concepts. The course is broad-based with the objectives of ensuring that students become knowledgeable of the current DBMS technology that is available today and are made aware of the current areas of database research. Prerequisite: BT170 (DD)
