A course designed to provide the student with the knowledge of pharmacology and its application in nursing. Study focus is on the major categories of pharmacological agents, their actions, side effects, uses, and nursing responsibilities. Mathematics skills are employed for the purpose of safe medication administration. Nursing process, critical thinking, and therapeutic communication in a community-based healthcare system are included. Cultural and ethnic variations in relation to medication administration in a multidisciplinary healthcare system are addressed. Emphasis is placed on committing to lifelong learning in a continually changing healthcare environment. (F)
