This is a non-clinical course designed to assist the student in making an adjustment to the role of becoming a member of the healthcare team in a community based system. Focus is placed on developing an understanding of the role and responsibility of a Licensed Practical Nurse capable of using critical thinking skills, the Nursing Process and therapeutic communication skills. Emphasis is placed on personal and professional growth and the commitment to education is a lifelong learning experience. Discussion of the impact of cultural and spiritual differences in a multidisciplinary setting is included. (F)
