4 credits Prerequisites: BA 211, BT 114 or BT 117, and BT 175. The purpose of this course is to provide students with a basic understanding of accounting information systems, including the differences between double-entry bookkeeping and database accounting. They will learn to use information technologies to understand how an accounting information system gathers and transforms data into useful decision-making information. The course will primarily teach students about business processes, accounting internal controls, and capturing accounting data and turning it into useful output. Students will learn automated accounting data management techniques, documentation, and accounting internal controls. Students will create an accounting procedures manual which documents and flowcharts the accounting system.
