2 credits This course introduces the field of computer technology through the introduction of fundamental technical skills and concepts. Students will understand how hardware, software and networks are organized to create computer information systems; how these systems are used by organizations; and the roles of information technology professionals in creating and maintaining these systems. This course provides an orientation for students who are considering programs of study and careers in the computing field. Students will learn about the degree and certification programs available, the knowledge and skills needed for entry level positions, the computer industry job market, current trends in the computer industry, and professional development and ethical issues that confront information professionals.
