5 credits Prerequisite: EMT 151. This course is Part 2 of an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic level. Successful completion of this two part course gains eligibility to sit for the Oregon State EMT-B certification exam and/or the National EMT-B certification exam. This course provides instruction in a variety of medical and trauma related emergencies. This is a demanding course for those who will function within an emergency medical services system. Supplies and equipment used is consistent with the tools of the trade. Fire departments and private ambulance services that respond to 911 emergencies carry very specific equipment and operate within very specific parameters. Students are taught how to apply their skills within this structure. This course is also a required component of the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Emergency Medical Technology.
