3 credits Prerequisite: MFG 201, MGF 202, And MTH 076 Or instructor consent Introduction to Computer Aided Manufacturing CAM, and its application in modern industry. Development of the basic skills required to use Esprit CAM software for CNC Milling. Primary emphasis is on CAM for 3 axis CNC machining centers. Topics include: geometry creation, importing CAD drawings, assigning work planes, determining correct cutting tools and tool paths, solid model machining simulation, and creating CNC code. Introduction to multi-work plane 4 axis milling. Demonstration of the CAD/CAM/CNC process workflow using Esprit software to create machine code for the LCC machining center. This course will be presented by means of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on experience.
