Thorough review of the fundamentals of music followed by their application to melody, harmony, and rhythm through analysis and composition. Emphasis of MUS 111 is on fluency of key signatures, scales, rhythm, intervals, triads and 7th chords, individually and in context, as well as 1st species modal and tonal counterpoint.
