5 credits Prerequisite: MTH 112 with grade of 'C-' or better or pass placement test. This three-term sequence introduces a wide range of fundamental physics concepts and analysis that is required for most health, mathematics and all science majors. PH 201, 2, 3, provides an algebra-based introduction, which is sufficient for majors not requiring calculus. These three courses all focus on conceptual understanding, graphical representation, and problem solving. The mathematical background in college-level algebra and trigonometry is needed and used throughout the sequence. The courses are designed to be taken in sequence. PH 201 provides an introduction to the concepts of force, acceleration, work, energy and momentum of objects with mass in various kinds of motion.
