4 credits Business and Professional Communication is designed to increase student understanding and implementation of effective communication behaviors and skills. Throughout the term, students will learn to recognize, understand, and perform communication in situations common to business and the professions. Instruction includes thinking critically, listening, job search and interviewing skills, managerial and leadership communication, team and group communication, as well as making public presentations. Repeated employer surveys indicate of the many skills presently required to function effectively in the workplace, no skill is prized more than the ability to communicate well. In addition, special attention will be given to presentational aids both traditional and computer generated. May be offered through Distance.
