3 credits This course is designed to teach a comprehensive and systematic approach to physical assessment. It includes history taking and the examination process of each body system. The learner will have the opportunity to refine basic skills and add advanced skills such as using the otoscope and opthalmoscope, palpating thyroids, eliciting deep tendon reflexes and identifying abnormal heart sounds. It is open to students who have completed the first two terms of a nursing program, LPNs and RNs. This course satisfies the Health Assessment requirement for RN-BSN at OHSU.
