Art education has been identified as one of the care curriculum competencies in both state and national curricula. This course will offer students an introduction to teaching visual arts education in the elementary classroom. This includes becoming familiar with standards-based resources and learning how to use these resources to create exciting, hands-on learning. Some of these resources include the state and national arts standards, the newly completed State of Hawai'i Arts Toolkit, art education CD-ROMs and videos, fine art reproductions, museum lending collections, art education texts, and curriculum websites. This course will prepare students to teach art in and throughout the elementary curriculum. Prerequisite: ART 101
