Students will explore the techniques of effective storytelling in film and video through analysis of film transitions, shot types and angles, montage, mise en scene, blocking, and camera movement. Attention will be paid to special needs of animation, such as creating the role of the camera and cutting, in hand drawn or all digital film. A history of film discovery will be explored. (formerly DMED 197P) Prerequisite: ENG 22 or equivalent, with a grade of C or better, or consent of instructor.
