This course is designed to provide the student with conceptual and working knowledge of how Local Area Networks communicate over a wide area. This course will introduce the student to telephony, the technology of switched voice communications. The course further provides students with an understanding of how communications channels of the public switched telephone networks are used for data communications, and how voice and data communications have become integrated. Prerequisite: ICS 184 or consent of instructor.
