Japanese 211 is the first part of an intermediate course with an emphasis on spoken Japanese designed for intermediate students whose primary interest is to develop basic oral communication skills in Japanese. Although the primary emphasis is on spoken Japanese, class time will also be spent to enable students to acquire skills to read and write basic Japanese scripts and to read high-frequency basic kanji. Prerequisite: JPNS 102 or 112 with a grade of C or better, or approval from the Language Arts Division.
