Helps students acquire and strengthen computational, problem-solving, and analytical skills for continued study in algebra and advanced mathematics courses. Emphasis will be on the fundamental concepts of algebra such as operations with integers and signed numbers, algebraic expressions and formulas, polynomials, fractions and rational expressions and equations, study of geometric figures and their properties, ratio and proportion, and percents. The course will include using critical thinking to interpret the solutions to the verbal problems, and other mathematical concepts. Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in Math 1B or equivalent, within the past two years.
