Introduction to basic methods and analytical techniques used in sociology. This course is designed to introduce students to the basic methods in sociology, and the nature, logic, and skill involved in the production and analysis of social scientific data. Emphasis is on learning by doing and providing basic skills in sociology. This course provides the necessary foundation for more advanced courses in methods and statistics. (Required of all sociology majors in the Manoa program and is a prerequisite for all 400-level sociology courses). Prerequisite: SOC 100 or any 200-level sociology course.
