A 4 credit hour lecture and lab course which gives the student an introduction to microbiology principles including chemical principles, microscopy, microbial metabolism, microbial genetics, classification schemes, principles of disease and epidemiology, microbial mechanisms of pathogenicity, and host resistance. Selected experiments are performed to illustrate principles taught in lecture. 3 hours lecture, 2 hours lab.
