A continuation of HIS 2213, this course is a survey of U.S. history from 1865 to the present. Topics include Reconstruction, the expanding economic system and its impact on both domestic and foreign affairs of the United States, the emergence of the U.S. as a world power and the problems and conflicts world power has created both in terms of world wars and the Cold War. Students also study domestic politics as the federal government expanded its role in the domestic life of the nation since the Great Depression. 3 hours lecture
