This course is a study of the major modern social problems and possible ways to solve them. Problems included are drugs, crimes, unemployment, suicide, juvenile delinquency, family violence, AIDS and others. Students will explore how groups who wish to change society organize into movements that can then succeed or die out. The course involves field trips and a few hours of community service in agencies as well as films, discussion and lecture. 3 hours lecture
