A combined lecture and laboratory course that covers spectroscopy, aromatic compounds, carbonyl compounds and other complex compounds with emphasis on reactions, reaction mechanisms, and nomenclature. Labs associated with this course acquaint students with important manipulations, as well as the preparation and study of aromatic and complex organic compounds being introduced in lecture. Prerequisites: CHE 2421/2423 or CHE 2424. 3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab.
