This course is an introduction to the roles of the Associate Degree Registered Nurse (ADRN) as 1) provider of care, 2) manager of care, and 3) member within the discipline of nursing. Emphasis is on the role of the provider of care and includes concepts of critical thinking, communication, patient teaching, clinical competence, health assessment, and human needs and responses. The Nursing Process is used as a basis for decision making in the long-term care setting. Integrated into these concepts is the uniqueness of health care delivery in rural settings. A clinical component is included. Pre-requisite: Completion of Nursing Program admission requirements.
