4.00 credits (2.00 lec/2.00 lab) Through lecture, demonstration and application, this course begins with basic garment alterations and progresses to major alterations. Customer service, fitting, workroom procedures, pressing, spotting and developing speed, as well as quality in workmanship, are covered. Students will participate in an alteration workshop for actual customers at the end of the semester. Prerequisites: Placement into READ 0200 or placement into ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042 with faculty recommendation into ESOL 0052; placement into MATH 0700 or completion of MATH 0060.
