3.00 credits (3.00 lec) This course focuses on the role of early childhood staff in developing positive relationships with parents, which enhance children's healthy growth and development. Working with children and families of varied racial, ethnic, economic and cultural backgrounds is emphasized. Students will compare child-rearing practices of different cultures, practice conducting parent conferences and investigate community agencies for use as referral sources for parents. Prerequisites: Placement into READ 0200 or placement into ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042 with faculty recommendation into ESOL 0052.
