3.00 credits (3.00 lec) This course introduces students to the literature of Asia and the Middle East from ancient to modern times. Students will read, discuss, and write about short stories, novels, poems, and religious and philosophical literature from the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia. Students will gain insight into the commonalities of human experience, as well as the diversity of human life and expression in Asia and the Middle East. They will come to understand how ethnic and cultural differences influence human expression. Fulfills MnTC Goal Areas 6 and 8. Prerequisite: ENGL 1110.
