4.00 credits (1.00 lec/3.00 lab) Advanced lathe operations are conducted using soft jaws, face plates, radius tools and taper-turning attachments. Additional projects studied include eccentric diameters, acme threading, tapered pipe threads, and the use of a steady rest for machining long shafts. A variable-speed turret lathe with pneumatic bar feed is set up and operated with many of the turret tools available for this machine. Prerequisites: MTTC 1020 or instructor approval; placement into READ 0200 or placement into ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042 with faculty recommendation into ESOL 0052; placement into MATH 0070 or completion of MATH 0060.
