2.00 credits (1.00 lec/1.00 lab) This course covers identification of the various aspects of the working properties of gemstones. Students will list the stones from the hardest and most durable to the softest and most vulnerable. Various jewelry repair and manufacturing techniques are detailed. Cleaning solutions as well as industry-standard equipment are demonstrated and maintained. Legal guidelines are profiled, and stone enhancements are documented. This course has a lab fee. Prerequisite: JLRY 1500.
