6.00 credits (3.00 lec/3.00 lab) This extended-hour version of the federal Nursing Assistant course is intended for learners with limited academic and/or employment success. Additional classroom and clinical practicum (attendance is mandatory) facilitates students' mastery of the Nursing Assistant theoretical and technical skills. Emphasis on individual learner styles and group process assists students in preparing for the Nursing Assistant test out and upon successful testing will be placed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry. Negative chest x-ray or Mantoux required 90 days before the last clinical day. Must be taken pass/fail. Prerequisites: Placement into READ 0200 or placement into ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042 with faculty recommendation into ESOL 0052.
