3.00 credits (3.00 lec) This course provides individuals who have some speaking experience and knowledge with an opportunity to develop and enhance their oral communication skills and performance abilities. Students will work individually with the instructor and in peer sessions to prepare speeches to take out into the community. They will have opportunities for self-expression, public interaction, outreach and exchange; take an active part in selecting their topics and audiences; and use feedback and evaluations to assist them in shaping the content and delivery of their presentations. Prerequisites: SPCH 1000 or SPCH 1005; placement into READ 0200 or placement into ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042 with faculty recommendation into ESOL 0052; placement into MATH 0070 or completion of MATH 0060.
