3.00 credits (3.00 lec) This course is an introduction to the basics of play directing, which includes guiding the beginning director through the various steps involved in casting, staging, rehearsing and presenting a play. Students will gain hands-on experience through directing exercises related to composition, stage business and movement for the stage. Students will have the opportunity to direct student actors in several assigned scenes for the class. Fulfills MnTC Goal Area 6. Prerequisites: Placement into READ 0200 or placement into ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042 with faculty recommendation into ESOL 0052; placement into ENGL 1110 or completion of ENGL 0900 or ESOL 0051.
