3.00 credits (3.00 lec) This course is intended to give an overview of the American criminal justice system, with specific review of the roles and responsibilities of the police, courts, corrections institutions and the democratic foundations upon which the system is based. In addition, the course is appropriate for those who want to learn more about career options in the areas of criminal justice. Fulfills MnTC Goal Areas 5 and 9. Prerequisites: Placement into READ 0200 or placement into ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042 with faculty recommendation into ESOL 0052.
