This course introduces students to clinical drug therapy with emphasis on knowledge and interventions needed to maximize therapeutic effects and prevent or minimize adverse effects of drugs. Major content areas include basic concepts of pharmacology, classifications of therapeutic drugs, prototypes of drug classifications, commonly prescribed drugs, drug effects on body tissues, human responses to drug therapy, and applying the steps of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in relation to prescribed drug therapy regimens.
