(60 lecture hours 30 lab hours, 5 credits) Prerequisite: CHE 101 with a "C" grade or better orinstructor permission Focuses on introductory organic and biochemistry (sequel to Introduction to Chemistry I). This course includes the study of hybridization of atomic orbitals for carbon, nomenclature of both organic and biochemical compounds, physical and chemical properties of various functional groups of organic chemistry, and physical and chemical properties of biochemical compounds along with their biochemical pathways. Laboratory experiments are included. This is a Statewide Guaranteed Transfer course GT-sci Approved 10-Jan-03 for A.A. only, Effective Spring 2003 (Replaces CHE 102 Added Fall 1991.)
