(52.5 lecture hours 15 lab hours, 150 other hours, 9 credits) Prerequisite: Admission into professional nursing program; Successful completion of NUR 109 and NUR 112. Introduces the student to the role of the nurse in assessing and meeting the medical and surgical nursing needs of adults across the life span in various health care settings. The student learns nursing concepts to assist the patient in achieving optimal functioning. Knowledge from foundational nursing, the sciences, pharmacology, and nutrition along with the continued integration of mental health and cultural concepts provides foundations for nursing care planning for medical and surgical clients.
