(30 lecture hours, 2 credits) Prerequisite: Completion of first year course work and admission into second year of nursing. Builds upon the concepts introduced in NUR 112 Pharmacology I regarding the safe administration of medications to clients across the health continuum. Utilizing the nursing process the student demonstrates understanding of the role of the nurse as provider of care, manager of care, and member of the profession. Emphasis is placed upon the therapeutic use of medications in the nursing care of individuals with complex health needs. The student is introduced to the calculation of complex intravenous drip rates. Added Fall 2006.
