Credits 1 (3 Lab Hrs/Wk) - Sp This course is designed to introduce the novice to the sport of surfing. We will explore the history, foundations and culture of surfing as a sport. Emphasis will be placed on safety. Recognition of weather patterns, tidal currents, underwater land features and general water safety will be taught. Students will learn basic paddling and wavecatching techniques. Prerequisite: Must be a strong swimmer; able to participate in field days.
