CMP 100 - Essentials of Computer Basics

This one credit course, designed to be completed in five weeks, is for the student who has not had previous training in the use of the computer or the keyboard. Each student will be given a pretest to ensure that they have signed up for the correct class. The course will include an historic overview of computer technology and look into its future, as well as provide a hands-on introduction to computer application software for word processing. Basic computer use, keyboard use, file structure, Windows GUI, personal email accounts, Internet, ethics, and security will also be addressed. Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to apply the Diné Philosophy of Learning to what they are learning. This course (or a higher level course) is a general education requirement for students enrolled in all certificate programs.
