This is an introductory course on using the Internet and a discussion of issues surrounding the Internet. Course topics include an elementary explanati on of how networks work, discussions of the problems and promises of living in a networked world, the use of the Internet for electronic mail, fi le transfer and informati on searching, Internet hardware and soft ware requirements, Internet tools, bulleti n boards, newsgroups, chat rooms, fi le compression, and fi le types. The intent of this course is to help you learn the fundamentals of the Internet, the usage of the Internet and create an awareness of the issues and potenti al changes in our society aff ected by the World Wide Web.
