This course uti lizes a body systems approach to address the physiological, psychological (mental health), social, spiritual, and cultural considerati ons of medical-surgical, maternal, and newborn nursing. The course concepts are presented by uti lizing the nursing process as it applies to clients across the lifespan with alterati ons or health care needs related to disorders of the following systems: respiratory, cardiac, hematological, integument, gastrointesti nal, renal, immune, endocrine, neurological, and reproducti ve. The course will focus on the student nurse role as a health care team member in the provision and planning of legal, ethical, safe, and eff ecti ve nursing care for individuals, families, and groups. This course includes a laboratory component with campus laboratory hours (which may include simulati on) and clinical learning experiences at local health care agencies. This is an eight credit hour course. Prerequisite: NU 119, PC 113 Co-requisite: PC 122
