This course includes a study of ferrous and nonferrous metals from ore to the fi nished products. Emphasis is on metal alloys, heat-treati ng, hard surfacing, welding techniques, forging, foundry processes, and mechanical properti es of metal including hardness, machinability, and ducti lity. Technical terms used in the various phases of metallurgy, from early history to classifi cati on of steel are covered. This is a three credit hour course. Prerequisite: WE 114
