Preview of the role of the instructional assistant in both regular education and special education classes including: assisting teacher in implementing programs and services; assisting student in social, physical, behavioral, emotional and/or academic programs in classroom and non-classroom settings; assisting with appropriate modifications and accommodations as described in the IEP. Other topics include confidentiality, communications skills, monitoring and recording student progress; discipline and classroom management; effective teaching strategies; working collaboratively with teacher and school teams.
