In this course students will be introduced to standards and theory of radiological control. Coverage will include radiological protecti on standards, the ALARA Principle, external and internal exposure control, and radiati on detector theory. Standards and principles of protecti on and the proper detecti ng and handling of radioacti ve matt er is taught. Calculati ons of internal and external exposure are covered extensively. Basic theory, identi fying how to measure radioacti vity, together with practi cal tasks including instrumentati on, is also taught. This is a three credit hour course. Prerequisites: RW 113
